Recommended Daily Food Intake

ready to build a healthier bowl?

PLEASE NOTE: These amounts are a guide only and consider an average activity level. We recommend feeding your dog their required daily amount, divided over 2 meals per day. You will need to increase or decrease your dog's intake depending on their body condition. All dog breeds have different metabolisms and activity levels.

How much raw food does my dog need?

An easy rule of thumb with determining the correct amount to feed your adult dog is 3% of their body weight daily and we recommend feeding your dog their required daily amount, divided over 2 meals per day. Puppies, seniors, and lactating dogs may require different amounts. Nursing or pregnant dogs may require as much as 3 times more. Other factors like activity levels, breed, environment, and state of health may affect the appropriate feeding amounts.

Tips for transitioning to a raw food diet

We have two transition options: a fast 7 day transition or a standard 14 day transition. If you dog has had tummy troubles when transitioning to a new diet in the past, we recommend introducing our meals slowly using the 14 day transition to give your dog time to adjust and adapt to their new species-appropriate diet.

Take it slow

If you chose the "cold turkey" approach and swap their food straight over, there's a chance it won't go so smoothly.

We recommend starting your dog off with our Chicken meals during the transition period, before moving onto our richer Beef, Lamb, Pork and Duck options which may be introduced slowly towards the end or after a successful transition.

During transition, it's entirely normal to see slight changes in their stool - don't panic! If you dog's poop becomes runny or loose, stay at the same stage for an additional 1-2 days before continuing with their transition.

Remember

If your dog has been eating artificial, grain-based foods for a long time this may have resulted in poor gut bacteria and diversity, suppressed digestive enzymes and a weakened immune system. Many dogs will need time to get their system up and running again.

Please let us know if there's anything else we can do - we're here to help! We're available through Live chat, email and on our social media if you'd like to discuss the transition process further.
